Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
May 20, 1959 – June 26, 1997

Israel "IZ" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole also called Bruddah Iz ("Brother Iz"), was an American musician, born in Hawaii.
His voice became famous outside Hawaii when his album Facing Future was released in 1993.
Israel's aim was to make music that stayed true to the typical sound of traditional Hawaiian music.
Throughout his life, Kamakawiwoʻole suffered from severe obesity resulting from compulsive overeating that brought him to an early death.
